
Question: I made a service call the Grundfos Magna 3 screens were in veritcal position. Can this damage the pump?
Answer: Yes, the screen must be horizontal to the floor.
The reason is two-fold. The first is that there is a a weep hole on the bottom of the head for allowing any built up condensation or moisture to drain out to the bottom protect the VFD.
The second is that there are radiation fins on top that allow for additional cooling of the motor. Pictured above is what Grundfos has in their I&O manual.

Below are examples of improper installations that I have come across.
Pictured below the pump head is incorrectly positioned sideways left. It needs to be in a horizontal position.

Pictured below the pump head is incorrectly positioned sideways right.

Below the pumps were positioned with the heads straight up. This error will void the warranty, reduce the life and performance.
